THE annual Chamber barbecue took place for the first time at The Bull Inn, Berkhamsted and local businesses gathered on a warm, dry evening on the eve of the Summer Solstice.

Some thirty guests began the evening at 6.30pm with a glass of Prosecco and there was a very convivial party atmosphere.

The barbecue was in the conservatory area of the refurbished Bull Inn, which has benefitted from its makeover of a year ago but possibly the sheer number of hungry Chamber members and their guests threw the BBQ staff somewhat as some did have a while to wait for their fayre.

In true stoic English fashion, we all accepted the delays.  After all, it wasn’t raining and one suspected guests were also buoyed by the recent success of England in winning their opening World Cup game against Tunisia two days earlier.  After all, it doesn’t happen very often!

The evening went on until the night chill began to take hold with the “stragglers” leaving around 10pm.  Despite the hiccoughs, we hope an enjoyable evening was had by all….
